Food Source

Rotten flesh is a cheap food source that you can use if you are in a pinch. When eaten, rotten flesh will restore a small amount of hunger, but it also has a chance of giving the player the hunger debuff which will cause the player's hunger bar to drain faster for about 30 seconds. Additionally, rotten flesh has a chance of giving the player the nausea effect, which will cause the screen to shake and blur for about 5 seconds.

You can then use these emeralds to go and trade with other types of villagers for much more desirable items that can help you advance in the game. This includes diamond armor and mending books.

Advancements

Minecraft is full of achievements that players can work to complete as they play along. While Minecraft is a sandbox game, there are those players who are completist and want to hit every achievements and milestone Minecraft has to offer. Including the two achievements which requiring rotten flesh.

The first one is the Iron Belly Advancement (this advancement is only available on the PS4 Bedrock version) To earn the Iron Belly Advancement you must stop starvation by eating a piece of rotten flesh. You need to get your hunger bar all the way down to where you will start taking damage. As soon as you do, eat a piece of rotten flesh to stop the starvation. You should see the advancement pop up on the top right of your screen. If you do not, you may have to repeat this a few times for the advancement to take place.

Minecraft advancements

The second one is the Balanced Diet Advancement. This advancement will be completed after eating all available foods. This includes eating a piece of rotten flesh. There are 40 different foods you have to eat. Once you eat a piece of rotten flesh you should see the amount of foods you need go up one.
